A Buyer's Insight

Going shopping with me is a nightmare! I will spend forever trying on a bunch of different things, and then 9 times out of 10 I'm leaving the store empty handed. I have 3 major rules when it comes to shopping: do I have the money, is the price fair to the quality of the product, and do I honestly need this item.  That being said, I tend to not bother going shopping much because it basically is a waste of gas for me since I rarely ever buy anything.

Many people have mentioned to me going "online shopping", but that thought kind of scares me.

I know....being in my mid 20's and never going the online route is kind of pathetic, but hearing people get ripped off and that whole identity threat thing...can you blame me for being scared. Well I figured I ease into this way of living in the 21st century by purchasing a much needed knitted hat for the up coming chilly weather from this cute little shop belonging to a Ms. Leney Breeden.

Woah Woah Woah....wait a minute....aren't you two friends?
...Biased much?

Yes it is true, she is one of my good friends, but don't think I bought something from her just for that reason....

I will admit the thought of paying $28 dollars for a knitted hat seemed a little ridiculous. I mean I  just threw one away that cost $5 that I got at a dollar store, why not go back and just buy the same one and save the money?

I along with many others typically wouldn't spend that kind of money on a hat, but after going over my "rules for shopping", I did end up justifying this purchase :)

First off, I've seen her knit and she does put a lot of time and care into each piece she makes.  Second, taking into account that unlike her handmade hat, the cheap hat I bought at the dollar store was probably made in  a sweat shop somewhere overseas... So by supporting a business that's right here in the United States, instead of supporting  a business who unfairly treats their employees made the price more understandable .  Then while looking over her page I found this piece of information she added...

“Also, you should be aware that 10% of all my proceeds go to helping the A21 Campaign http://www.thea21campaign.org/ which focuses on abolishing human trafficking in the 21st century. It's a subject that I am passionate about, and I want to dedicate part of my life to helping in any way I can.”

How beautiful is that?!? I felt like buying this item allowed me to play a tiny role in helping out with this great cause, and let's be honest, who doesn't like the feeling they get when they feel like what they do make a difference??? That alone more than justifies the price!

Love the packaging

Oooh looky! It's my new hat! (loving the pink hearts tissue paper!)

I love the pattern on this hat
I think I work this hat well ;P

Not only did I gain some confidence with online shopping, helped with a great cause, but I also was able to wisely spend money on a such a cute (and greatly needed) hat!

If there is one thing I would like everyone to take from this post it's that it is important to really think before you buy something regardless of the cost.  Just because it's "cheap", that doesn't make a smart purchase.

Hope you all have a lovely day!
