Just a thought

Whenever there is a thought that won't leave my mind, I head over to "my spot" at Hollywood Cemetery.  There is something calming about the sound of rushing water and birds chirping all around that allows me to sort out my thoughts.

My "thinking face"

This view and the sound makes it so easy to shut everything off

Journaling I did today

One of the things I thought about was how I have been feeling kind of bummed out lately.  Recently I have had some not so great things happen.  Whenever I wanted to hangout with someone I seemed to be getting the same response from everyone.  "I think you should go spend some time with God first".  They aren't awful people for saying that, but it does kind of feel like I'm being blown  off.

if it is a blow off respect that person and understand that they may need some encouragement from another or also feel they need some time alone with God.  If those people honestly care about you then they will totally spend sometime with you once they  are in a place where they can be encouraging to you.

Regardless of their motives, it is super important to spend time with God. What does that exactly mean when people say that though??  Well I can't really answer that for you, but for me it's going off to "my spot".  There I can pray aloud, read my bible aloud, and journal without any fear of someone disrupting me.

I guess my point is that when someone says to you "I think you should spend some time with God" you should take it as a good thing and try and figure out what "spending time with God" means for you, and then make sure it becomes more of a priority than quickly relying on someone when frustrations first come upon you.

Something I read in my Bible during my quiet time today at Hollywood was this verse I found really encouraging.

Psalm 121

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord watches over you—
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm
he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.

I hope you all are doing well, and if not I sincerely encourage you to seek God for strength....and don't take this as a "blow off" :P

Taking a "Look Back" At Some Great Places to Eat!

Carytown was recently bless with a restaurant called "Don't Look Back".  This place is known for their traditional style of tacos.  After hearing several people rave about this place I knew I needed to give it a shot with a girl from bible study, Melissa.  :)
In my opinion they have the best $3 tacos!
I try to take a picture of my food before I eat it...but I just couldn't resist!
I got the chorizo and fish tacos, yum!
Melissa diving into hers.
By the looks of things I guess I'm not the only one who enjoys this place!

I love the cute art they entice people to come in!

After Dinner we decided to grab some dessert at this ice cream shop "Boyer's".  Now I had been there before, so I knew that whatever I got was going to be great!

I got a mint chip kind of ice cream, so good!
Melissa was a bit more adventurous than me and got a little bit of everything!
For those of you who attend Eighteen-22 or WEAG, you may recognize this lovely couple in the background....Maria and Jamal Jones!
I totally agree with Melissa, this place totally gets a thumbs up!

And looks like Maria is a fan of this place too!

I believe that food taste better with company!  So the next time you are out with a friend or two and looking for somewhere to eat, I recommend trying out these places first!

Thank Heavens for the Eleventh of the Seventh!

Well hello there!

Fun Fact...This is my first post since I turned 24! Crazy I know!

Cannot believe it is almost the middle of July, dang!  Let's see, what has happened? Ok, well there was The 4th of July, and then my 24th birthday which was my on July 6th, and then there was the yesterday...

Wait...but wasn't yesterday the 11th? What is so great of the 11th of July?!?

FREE SLURPEE DAY!!

Free Slurpee day happens ever July 11th to celebrate 7-Eleven's birthday!

Now you can't just go and get any size Slurpee you want, they have a specific 7.11oz cup(you know they meant to do that). My dearest friend Hannah and I decided we must be apart of this fun so we head off to attain are little treasure beverage.

Nothing like spicy taquitos and a Slurpee

After we head out, I came up with the idea of us going to get as many free Slurpee's as possible.  Now before some of you start judging you, I have purchased quite a few Slurpee's in the past, so I felt I could justify this action.

After about 3 7.11oz Slurpee I started to kind of regret my choice to do this, then again I hadn't had much to eat before then...I'm sure that wasn't helping...so we decided to get something to eat before we headed downtown and hit up other 7-Elevens downtown.  Once we got there we passed a few of them, but our stomachs just were not feeling it, but while on the search we came across the VMFA and decided to not only walk off the sugar rush, but broaden our appreciation for the arts.

So excited to see a stained glass piece I haven't seen before!
Uh I would love to sleep in this fur bed!
The carriage is part of a traveling collection, it was super gorgeous, but you couldn't take up close pictures of it. :(
Never seen a tutu on a sculpture before!

Walking around the museum really helped, because we ended up getting back at "Slurpee hopping".
I ended up drinking at total of 49.77oz of the cold drink...yeah it is pretty safe to say I'm not really interested in have a Slurpee for awhile...

Still cannot belive I drank all of that

between the two of us we drank over 92oz of Slurpee

I wonder if "Slurpee hopping" will catch on with others???

What's all the Buzz[& Ned's] about?

Buzz & Ned's is a Richmond staple, and are known for there phenomenal BBQ.

I have heard of this place like a billion times from friends about how amazing it is, but rarely am I ever in the mood to go out to a bbq resturaunt.

One of my favorite tv networks is the Travel Channel, and one of their shows I love is called Man vs. Food hosted by Adam Richman.  He goes around the country visiting cities in search of eating challenges he hopes to beat.  One of the cities was surprisingly right here in the Richmond!

It was in this episode where I was inspired to try this joint out so yesterday I finally had the chance to go last friday night to their newest location in the West End!
I went to the new second location off West Broad St.

That day it was super hot and when I went inside this monster of a ceiling fan quickly cooled me off!

I have to admit I did not order any BBQ, instead I order their catfish which was pretty good.

The sauce that went with it which is on the left side was really good

Although I personally didn't order any BBQ, I still managed to get my hands on some of it from my family members.  My dad ordered their brisket which was pretty good, but granny ordered the ribs and OH MY GOSH FREAKING DELICOUS!
Uh ribs from heaven

If you ask me, the woman made a very intellegent choice.

If you get a chance to hang out in Richmond, you seriously need to trythis place out!
