One of my favorite movies of all time is "The Breakfast Club" when i first watched it on TV randomly one day. I fell in love with "Allison"(Ally Sheedy) who is I guess in modern day terms would be considered an 80's version of an "emo kid"...mostly because I myself kind of was....BUT I also loved this other character "Claire"(Molly Ringwald) because I secretly wish i was a "girly-girl". In the movie there is a scene where Claire takes Allison and gives her a little make-over and transforms Allison's character from dark and depressing to sweet and charming.
Love this scene of Claire (on left) giving Allison (on right) a little make-over!
Ever since then, even during my "tom-boy" phase I have not only wanted to have a make-over done (which I did and loved!) but also give one as well!
....guess who finally got to give someone a make-over.....
Ok sooo whom fell prey to torcher...I mean...blessed experience you may ask? My brother's girlfriend Kendall. This chick instead of studying an issues of "Instyle" and watching chick flicks, spends her time studying about computers and owning the boys at "Magic the Gathering".
Her idea of fashion is baggy jeans and a large T-shirt. Now there is nothing wrong with being comfortable; however, when it comes to making a good first impression when job searching, that's not exactly the look you want to be sporting....
Kendall with her cute little puppy nova!
After some mall shopping, we headed over to the wonderful world of target and found a cute polka-dotted skirt and a form fitting black turtle-neck for her to try on. After a couple of minuets in the dressing room she finally came out and I was totally blown away! I had no idea this girl had great curves! I don't even think she knew she had such a great figure!
When we arrived home, she put the outfit on for mom. Mom screamed in delight with out good she looked, and that's when Kendall came up with the idea that she wanted to have some make-up put on her....and fix up her hair a little...
Not bad for a spur of the moment mini make-over (if I do say so myself)
The full ensemble (I found some ankle boots I never really wore and gave them to her)
So stoked to see how good she felt
Not bad for my first time playing Frankenstein! I had such a great time hanging out with her, and most importantly seeing her gorgeous smile so much!
One thing I blew myself away while with her was how I explained that it's not bad that she wasn't sure how to piece things together, and why it is good to look good.
Looking nice is just like wrapping paper on a box,
some people are nicely wrapped boxes with nothing inside,
Some are plain boxes with bunches of great things inside,
What you want is to be both, because who wants to open a pretty box to find nothing inside?
The most important thing to remember is that changing the way you present yourself, doesn't mean you have to change who you are as a person. Don't lose sight of what makes you...you!
