Don't You Forget About Me[When Getting Ready]

One of my favorite movies of all time is "The Breakfast Club" when i first watched it on TV randomly one day.  I fell in love with "Allison"(Ally Sheedy) who is I guess in modern day terms would be considered an 80's version of an "emo kid"...mostly because I myself kind of was....BUT I also loved this other character "Claire"(Molly Ringwald) because I secretly wish i was a "girly-girl".  In the movie there is a scene where Claire takes Allison and gives her a little make-over and transforms Allison's character from dark and depressing to sweet and charming.

Love this scene of Claire (on left) giving Allison (on right) a little make-over!

Ever since then, even during my "tom-boy" phase I have not only wanted to have a make-over done (which I did and loved!) but also give one as well!

....guess who finally got to give someone a make-over.....

Ok sooo whom fell prey to torcher...I mean...blessed experience you may ask?  My brother's girlfriend Kendall. This chick instead of studying an issues of "Instyle" and watching chick flicks, spends her time studying about computers and owning the boys at "Magic the Gathering".

Her idea of fashion is baggy jeans and a large T-shirt. Now there is nothing wrong with being comfortable; however, when it comes to making a good first impression when job searching, that's not exactly the look you want to be sporting....

Kendall with her cute little puppy nova!

After some mall shopping, we headed over to the wonderful world of target and found a cute polka-dotted skirt and a form fitting black turtle-neck for her to try on.  After a couple of minuets in the dressing room she finally came out and I was totally blown away! I had no idea this girl had great curves! I don't even think she knew she had such a great figure!

When we arrived home, she put the outfit on for mom.  Mom screamed in delight with out good she looked, and that's when Kendall came up with the idea that she wanted to have some make-up put on her....and fix up her hair a little...

Not bad for a spur of the moment mini make-over (if I do say so myself)

The full ensemble (I found some ankle boots I never really wore and gave them to her)
So stoked to see how good she felt

Not bad for my first time playing Frankenstein!  I had such a great time hanging out with her, and most importantly seeing her  gorgeous smile so much!

One thing I blew myself away while with her was how I explained that it's not bad that she wasn't sure how to piece things together, and why it is good to look good.

Looking nice is just like wrapping paper on a box,
some people are nicely wrapped boxes with nothing inside,
Some are plain boxes with bunches of great things inside,
What you want is to be both, because who wants to open a pretty box to find nothing inside?

The most important thing to remember is that changing the way you present yourself, doesn't mean you have to change who you are as a person.  Don't lose sight of what makes you...you!

Influe Whatster??

Remember a while back when I wrote "Junk to Jewel Mail (why saying yes could be a good thing)" ? Well, since then I have scoured the inter webs for sites that can help you save money and I have found an AMAZING one called Influenster!

What in the world is influenster (and how do you say it???)

Well, I could try to explain it in my own words...but it would take me forever to come up with an answer...HOWEVER thankfully the lovely master minds must have assumed that would be a question, and they have and answer for you...

 Influenster [in-floo-uhn-ster] ( noun)

"An exclusive online community where tastemakers and trendsetters (such as yourself) come to share the latest and greatest news, places, products, and reviews with each other. 2. The hotspot you just bookmarked on your web browser that turns your social influence into sweet rewards."

There is a little bit of effort that must be exerted on this site on your part, but it is super easy to do and the instructions are easy to understand!   OK so this may sound like a bit of a waste of time, but I promise you it really isn't! If you take this place seriously, they will take you seriously and bless you with awesome products to try out COMPLETELY FREE aka you don't even pay for shipping!

I personally have been a part of the Influenster community since this past June, and I am super happy to share with you all that I was one out of 5,000 lucky members chosen for the #comsovoxbox2012 ! Aka I got a box full of free stuff to try out and review!

My Cosmo Voxbox is here! I love getting mail!

This is exactly what I saw as soon as I opened the box
Back of the card shares product info and prices
Ooh Free Venus Embrace Razor and a trial Venus & Olay blade
Erasable Pilot pens, Ghiradelli chocolate, and a new scent called "Forever Red" by Bath and Body Works!

Sadly due to final exams, I have yet to try these lovely gifts, BUT as soon as I do, I will totally be posting about my thoughts both likes and dislikes with you all!  I hope that you all get a chance to check out this really cool website!

Have you met Sheldon?!?

A couple of weeks ago my beloved cat of 9 years "Bits" died.  I loved him very much and even though he mostly ruled the household with a bad mood...I knew somewhere under all his fat and fur he loved me too.  Needless to say, when my little sister and mom began talks about getting a new pet...I wasn't crazy about the idea.  I didn't want to attach myself to another animal only to have it leave it....But on Sunday mom came across an ad on craigslist for a puppy who needed a new home soon.  She showed me a pic an my heart instantly melted.  This following Monday as soon as I got home from work, the whole family randomly jumped in the car and headed off to see this little guy in person.

That being said,

I am pleased to announce that I have acquired a brand new family member!

Everyone, I would love for you to meet Sheldon the Beagle!
Hi! I'm Sheldon and I just turned 18 weeks old!

Look I made a new friend! Her name is Hannah!
I love chewing on my ducky toy! Nothing in the world can distact me from it!
Wait, did you say cheese!?! I love cheese!!

I had lots of fun today, but I am very exhausted now, Good Night!

Isn't he just the cutest!?! Stayed tuned for future post about what Sheldon will be up to next!

Just a little "Lo" down

this piece is by Eva Rocha

Not going to lie, I feel kind of bad that it took me so long to post about my November First Friday adventure yesterday, seeing how it happened...well the first Friday of November...so I feel I should explain why I have been a little MIA...

For the past couple of weeks I have been stuck in an unmotivated rut. This has been my worst semester in school since I started back last fall. I’ve been feeling kind of worthless.  I know my educational decline as a bit to do with family drama and the death of my grandmother, but also I feel like no matter what I do, I never feel like fully understand any material I have been taught.  It breaks my heart that I allowed myself to go from making Dean's List, on to being on academic warning.

That being said, I’m refusing to stay in academic warning.  I have no clue how long it will take or what I am going to have to do to pull myself out of this rut…but I will!

For starters, I need to start enjoying life more than I have been.  I have found when I am doing things that make me happy, I seem more focused…oooh look there is one step of getting back on the horse!

November's First Friday Flashback

Guess who has two thumbs and got to go to November's First Fridays..... This girl! Uh I was so excited when my good friend Leney asked me if I would tag along with her for this months event!  Now unlike most First Fridays, this one actually had an all around theme which was that all the pieces had to incorporate the use of lights.  I have never seen anything like that done before!  It was an awesomely eye-catching experience.

This was the first piece I came across created by Eva Rocha and loved it! It was tough choosing which picture to post because I took so many of this one!
I love icicle lights, they remind me of Christmas :)
Random street scenes
This was made with lights and gallon buckets!
I have never seen a hula hoop that lights up, too crazy!

I want someone to make me a sign!
Love these boots with lights on them!
Still drives me nuts I couldn't figure out what this presentation was saying
Make sure you check out Leney's post about this First Friday post!

I wonder what December's First Friday will be like???

A Belated post about A Beloved Holiday

Halloween may have been two weeks ago, but that doesn't mean I can't still talk about it right, and trust me I have plenty to talk about!  Then again, they say a picture is worth a 1,000 words...so how bout I just show you how awesome my Halloween was eh?

I may of may not have carved this into my pumpkin....

Did some pumpkin carving

This year I decided to do a more ambitious carving than the traditional jack-o-lantern face.

Went Halloween costume party!

Trainer Ash & his best friend Pikachu decided to take a break from their life on the road to victory and hang out

Ellie and Carl decided not to go to bed at 6pm and join in on the fun, I sure hope they anchored their balloon house before hand.
Look at this lovely little ladybug, isn't she a beauty!?! (I wonder who is behind that mask ;P )
Who knew a ladybug and a bunny could be such good friends?!?
Nigel Thornberry came after just wrapping up on another insightful documentary.
Sandy Cheeks and a black cat dueling it out in a game of corn hole

Rosie the Riveter and myself...*cough* I mean mysterious ladybug know how to have a great time!
Nothing brings animals, prom-queens, professors, cheerleaders, old men, and famous animal researchers together like board games.

Joined Pumpkin Head on another adventure: Trick-or-Treating

Pumpkin head decided he wanted to be a robot for Halloween.
 "Come on let's go!"
The Queen of Hearts & The Mad Hatter had never met a robot before.

Nothing is more exciting than having a bucket full of candy!

I had so much fun this past Halloween, I hope you all had a great Halloween as well!

Running in someone Else's Shoes

Over the whole month of October, one of local Richmond radio stations Q94 had been promoting their "Hunks in Pumps" race to benefit MCV's research in finding a cure for breast cancer.

So I did, and I brought my friends Katie with me to see this spectacle as well!

Those guys are totally working the 1920's look!

Group photo before the big race!

Very shocked at how well he is pulling this look off...
Look even "Nutzy" The Richmond Flying Squirrels mascot participated!

I was super impressed at how well those men did running in heels! I have yet to be able to do that myself!
