A few weeks ago this amazing grandmother(aka granny) of mine passed away. It's been tough not having her around. She meant so much to me, and she taught me some pretty cool things over the 24 years I knew her. Me and my family had to take a trip out to Paducha KY shortly after to bury her since that is where Papa (her husband) is buried as well. Though the reason for traveling to Paducha wasn't desire, some good did come out of it. I not only got to see some family, but I also got to explore interesting places and try some new things. Here is a little glimpse of my explorations...
Flying from the Norfolk airport
bridge over the KY dam...so close to the destination of Paducha KY
nothing beats chilling in a pool after a long trip
Paducha has flood walls with paintings on it...this one is about their flood in the 1920s
The Ohio River in between the 2 flood walls
I love how the city of Paducha has a little gathering place
Outside of this restaurant called "Whalers". They have great seafood!
I never seen a crab claw that big!
Whalers had some pretty impressive wood carvings
this was my favorite wood carving
I loved how they decorated their place with a marine theme
little brother showing off his crab meat
inside of Whalers
My Granny's younger sister may or may not have been helped over the table to get to the other side....
tried frog legs for the first time....have to say not too bad
after Whalers, I headed over to the National Quilt Museum
This was the closest picture I could take of the museum, no cameras allowed inside sadly because it was crazy awesome!
Downtown Paducha has some of the best fudge!
Paducha's famous Red's Doughnuts....freaking delicious!
This is the house my grandparents use to live in, so many great memories
Norfolk's night sky welcoming me back home to Virginia
Granny you will be greatly missed, but I am very thankful for the time I was given to spend with you. :)
